The US Congress lost a giant yesterday.
There have been many accolades used to describe Tom Lantos and his service to the 12 District. Serving as a public official for so long is a testament to his decades of hard work and dedication. Lantos served with a strong voice and stronger convictions.
There were more than a few times the Congressman and I disagreed on policy – but Lantos was always a gentleman who had deep respect for everyone and their views.  In a world where partisanship bickering is the norm – it was nice to see statesmanship demonstrated clearly.
My heartfelt condolences to his family in their time of loss.

Break a leg Mr, Mayor!
